Not very surprisingly, this is nearly the exact same claim that basically every other Christian-based cult makes. The WMSCOG asserts that their deceased leader “Ahnsahnghong” is the second coming of Christ in the flesh who restored the way to eternal life through the Passover. Another central doctrine for them is their doctrine about “God the Mother.” They believe that a South Korean, elderly woman named Zhang Gil Jah is a second female deity who they refer to as Mother God or Jerusalem Mother. According to WMSCOG doctrine, one must have faith in Mother God in order to be saved. With a little critical thinking, analyzing of the WMSCOG doctrines, and an honest and responsible examination of the biblical text, it can be decisively shown that the WMSCOG is nothing more than a high-control, high-demand cult group that will likely only bring you and your family emotional, spiritual, relational and financial pain and devastation. An apocalyptic group that claims that Mother God is living in Korea. It is relentlessly recruiting new members who are almost instantly baptized. Former members say that they believe the Catholic Church is the anti-christ and that all churches that worship on Sunday are satanic. The group is accused of breaking up marriages and families, encouraging members to drop out of school and abandon their life goals. Also that they break up families. Children in the group are viewed as a hindrance. Some former members have claimed they were encouraged to have abortions by leaders. Ron Ramos was the first American installed as a deacon and was made a Missionary in 2005. He went to Korea three times and was an intricate part of the recruitment process in the United States. He and his wife decided to leave in 2011 due to inaccuracies in doctrine, lies that were uncovered, and the growing realization that the WMSCOG is destructive.

In today’s episode, we hear the powerful cult recovery story of Han Schardinger, a former member of the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG). Han was born and raised inside the group in Korea before moving to the United States at age 8. He remained a devoted member into his early 20s and shares firsthand insight into life inside a high-control religious group, including his experiences meeting “Heavenly Mother” and church leadership. Han explains what it was like growing up in WMSCOG, how beliefs were presented to him as a child, and what ultimately led to him leaving.
