Can We Understand the Bible Ourselves?

Also for the current members of WMSCOG who are reading, just know that Jesus loves you and He is the only one that has ever shed His blood to save you. If you are editing this article to try to debunk it to your church please at least stay within the topic itself, we will get to Fig tree, Second Coming and Judgement, New Name, coming from the East and more shortly so hang tight. 

We will break it down into 4 parts.

1: What is the teaching of the WMSCOG we are analyzing regarding the Root of David.

2: What is the origin of this teaching, if any.

3: What does the Bible actually teach concerning the Root of David.

4: Our conclusion. In short this video will show that still remains to be fulfilled.

Now let's start with part 1, the teaching.

The teaching about the root of David from the WMSCOG in summary is that when Jesus came 2,000 years ago he established the New Covenant and established all the feasts of the New Covenant and the regulations. However after Jesus and the Apostles left the earth there began to be gradual changes in the church and eventually in 321 AD Sunday was instituted by Roman emperor Constantine and then later in 325 AD the Passover was abolished meaning there was no truth of life nor people of God on the earth. 

That is why John wept and wet because the truth was sealed and no one could be saved. Therefore Christ must come again in the flesh in secret to restore the truth that was lost before the judgment day comes so that the chosen elect of the 144,000 will be able to safely enter heaven. 

2. Origin.

Now the claim that there is a special person or chosen one who is the sole source of interpretation of the truth is nothing new in and of itself. The claim that this same person is the chosen one to restore the true church that has the only truth is nothing new.

SDA has Ellen White, LDS has Joseph Smith, Olive Tree has Park Tae Son, Unification Church has Son Myung Moon, Shincheonji has Lee Man Hee, Scientology has L Ron Hubbard, JW’s has Charles Taze Russell, WMSCOG has Ahnsahnghong and the list goes on and on. So this sort of belief is nothing new. By the way it is important to note that the majority of the founders of these groups all had personal revelation or visions that they were the chosen ones hand picked by God. Dont take my word for it, research it yourself.

Please allow me to read excerpts from a book called the Divine Principle, Chapter 3 “Consummation of Human History” Part 5 “The Last Days, the New Truth and our Attitude” Section 1 “The Last Days and the New Truth”.

Jesus died on the cross without being able to say all that he wanted to say because of the disbelief of the people. As he said, "If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?" (John Chapter 3 verse 12). Jesus also said to his disciples, "I have yet many things to say to you but you cannot bear them now." (John Chapter 16 verse 12). This disclosed how sorrowful he was, because he could not tell even his own disciples what he had deep in his heart.

The words Jesus left unuttered will not forever remain a secret, but are to be revealed some day as a new truth through the Holy Spirit, as Jesus told us:

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John chapter 16 verse13)

Again we read:

I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. (Revelation Chapter 5 verse 1)

On this very scroll were the words the Lord is to give us in the Last Days. When John wept because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it, since there was no such person in heaven, on earth, or under the earth, one of the elders said:

...the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals. (Revelation Chapter 5 verses 3-5)

The Lion born of the Root of David signifies Christ. Thus, the day must come when Christ will open the sealed scroll, which has long remained a secret to mankind, and reveal the new truth to all the saints. Therefore, it is said, "You must again prophesy about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." (Revelation Chapter 10 verse 11). 

Again, it is said:

And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour our my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. (Acts chapter 2 verses 17-18)

Thus, from many standpoints the new truth must come in the Last Days.

This book was written in 1951 by the founder of the Unification Church, Reverend Sun Myung Moon. The organization later of course became affectionately dubbed “the Moonies”. Also fun fact.

 That is where Steve Hassan came out of and made it his life mission to help people who were manipulated like him. Link is in the description if you would like to read it for yourself. This book is like 900 pages.

Please allow me to read another short excerpt from the original book “Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life” chapter 21 page 158 “Christ who is to come in secret and King David” written in 1980. Or it would be chapter 19 page 130 if you have the severely altered version.

Ahnsahnghong writes.

Revelation Chapter 5 verses 2-5

Considering the above prophecy we can see that no one has been able to open the scroll sealed with seven seals until the coming of the root of David. The Church of God started on the day of Pentecost in the apostolic age and was persecuted as heresies entered Christianity through the work of Satan. 

The truth of life was trampled on and during the dark ages of 1260 years there was no trace of truth. Even Martin Luther the reformer could not restore the truth after him any reformers appeared but none of them could restore the truth of life either. 

As the apostle John saw in his vision and wrote “but no one in heaven are on earth or under the earth could open the school or even look inside it.

 I wept and what because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside then one of the elders said to me "do not weep see the line of the tribe of Judah the root of David has triumph he's able to open the scroll and at seven seals.”

 This prophecy shows that only Jesus, the root of David who is to come in secret in the last days, will restore the New Covenant truth of the early church.

Then he proceeds to go into the prophecies of Ezekiel, Amos and Psalms which we will come back to. But let's see page 163 towards the bottom with Revelation Chapter 5 verses 5-6. It would be page 135 in the edited version.

Revelation Chapter 5 verses 5-6

The Lion of the tribe of Judah the Root of David is called a lamb and concerning the words I'll make a horn grow for David The apostle John wrote in Revelation 5:6 that a lamb had seven horns by these words “I'll make a horn grow” God meant that he would unleash his wrath.

 Jesus the lamb came in the name of David 1900 years ago and established the truth of life shedding the blood of sacrifice on the cross to say mankind However the devil took away the truth and scattered the sheep. To destroy the enemy seven horns must grow for David.

Last thing I would like to mention about Rev. Moon and the "Divine Principle" is that Moon wrote about coming on the clouds means flesh, when Jesus comes again there will be no faith, God comes from the East (Korea) and many others first in 1951. Then if Ahnsahnghong is the true Christ and he alone unlock these truths, how is that Moon (false Christ) was able to unlock these truths decades prior? Who is the real Christ then?

Anyways, this pretty much sum up the origin of the Root of David prophecy.

Now that that is out of the way. Let's turn to Revelation chapter 5.

Revelation Chapter 5 verses 1-14 NIV

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped. 

Here let's point out a few things. There is a scroll sealed with seven seals. However, where is the scroll located? Considering the context of the chapter it appears to be in heaven. Now the scroll was being held by the one on the throne. John wept because no one could open it. 

Then appears the Lion of Judah who is the Root of David that can open the scroll.  Then appears the Lamb that looked like it had been slain and that takes the scroll. It said that the Lamb also has the authority to open the scroll, also if you match this with Revelation chapter 22 verse 16 this clearly indicates Jesus. 

However, where is Jesus when He receives the scroll? In heaven. So my question would be to the WMSCOG leaders is how does the scroll being open indicate the bible here on earth? What relation or proof is there biblically to connect this?

WMSCOG may reference Isaiah chapter 29 verses 10-12 to also insist that the Bible is sealed. So let's go there.

Isaiah Chapter 29 verses 10-12 

The Lord has brought over you a deep sleep:

He has sealed your eyes (the prophets);

he has covered your heads (the seers).

For you this whole vision is nothing but words sealed in a scroll. And if you give the scroll to someone who can read, and say, “Read this, please,” they will answer, “I can’t; it is sealed.” Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, “Read this, please,” they will answer, “I don’t know how to read.”

Here these verses are used to prove the same point of Revelation chapter 5. However the verses in Isaiah chapter 29 verses 10-12 have nothing to do with Revelation chapter 5 unfortunately. Verse 11 refers to this vision. Then what vision? The words God just spoke to Isaiah in verses 1-10. 

Isaiah chapter 29 verses 1-12

Woe to you, Ariel, Ariel,

the city where David settled!

Add year to year

and let your cycle of festivals go on.

Yet I will besiege Ariel;

she will mourn and lament,

she will be to me like an altar hearth.

I will encamp against you on all sides;

I will encircle you with towers

and set up my siege works against you.

Brought low, you will speak from the ground;

your speech will mumble out of the dust.

Your voice will come ghostlike from the earth;

out of the dust your speech will whisper.

But your many enemies will become like fine dust,

the ruthless hordes like blown chaff.

Suddenly, in an instant,

the Lord Almighty will come

with thunder and earthquake and great noise,

with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.

Then the hordes of all the nations that fight against Ariel,

that attack her and her fortress and besiege her,

will be as it is with a dream,

with a vision in the night—

as when a hungry person dreams of eating,

but awakens hungry still;

as when a thirsty person dreams of drinking,

but awakens faint and thirsty still.

So will it be with the hordes of all the nations

that fight against Mount Zion.

Be stunned and amazed,

blind yourselves and be sightless;

be drunk, but not from wine,

stagger, but not from beer.

The Lord has brought over you a deep sleep:

He has sealed your eyes (the prophets);

he has covered your heads (the seers).

Clearly the vision that was sealed is the words from verses 1-10. It has nothing to do with Revelation 5 or 6. Also in the context of Isaiah 29 verses 10-12, God is referring to a spiritual blindness of Israel. Isaiah 29 verses 13-14 God is basically addressing the lip service of the Prophets saying their worship was not accepted. Jesus also makes reference to Isaiah 29 in Matthew 15 verses 7-9 calling the religious leaders hypocrites and that their worship was in vain. Basically confirming that the same situation was happening in the time of Jesus as it was in time Isaiah. That is the context of Isaiah 29.

Now I know a lot of you may be thinking right now, what about the Seven Thunders, The Feasts, the Truth being thrown down or the restoration. We will get there in otherarticles but for now let's go back to the subject at hand.

Or you may be thinking that some prophecies are fulfilled 3, 4 or 50 times. I have found no biblical basis for such a claim. However I understand why they need to say it, because if they don't their whole doctrine falls apart. If Jesus fulfilled everything perfectly the first time that is a very big problem for the WMSCOG. But let's continue.

Revelation chapter 6 verses 1-17

I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.

I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”

In Revelation chapter 6 you can see the Lamb opens 6 of the Seals. However is the Lamb in the flesh? I see no indication of the Lamb being in the flesh, it appears he hasn't moved from the center of the throne in Heaven since Revelation chapter 5. As we will see, the Lamb is in the same spot in Revelation chapters 5, 6 and 7. Which would imply the scroll hasn't moved either since the Lamb is holding it. Indicating both the Lamb and this sealed scroll are in heaven, not earth.

If you are not sure, don't take my word for it, look at Chapter 26 page 172 in the heavily edited English only version of the Green Book “Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life”. 

Ahnsahnghong quotes Revelation chapter 6 verses 9-11 and confirms that the Lamb opening the 5th seal is taking place in the heavenly sanctuary and that those souls were martyrs. Then how can the Lamb be in the flesh restoring the Passover in secret if He is opening the sealed scroll in the Heavenly sanctuary? I don't understand what is the correlation here? Is the sealed scroll in Revelation 5 different from the sealed scroll of Revelation 6? I don't see there being 2 sealed scrolls that are sealed with seven seals just the one, also that one scroll being opened is in heaven with the Lamb.

Also it's important to note that when the Lamb opens the seals it appears to be God’s judgments not some sort of secret restoration. If you read Revelation chapter 7 verse 14, the 6 seals seem to indicate the tribulation since the great multitude comes out of it. I have not found any indication whatsoever to the claim that Root of David unsealing the scroll means that God comes in the flesh to Earth to unseal the bible, reveal the truth, write truth books etc. If I am missing anything in Revelation chapters 5-6 that would indicate those insistences let me know in the comments.

I was taught at one point that Revelation 6 was a timeline showing Church History, honestly I can understand the timeline insistence but I have yet to find evidence of the WMSCOG’s version of church history in the 6 seals. The seals appear to be opened one after another to make the seals sequential, I would argue however that what the WMSCOG interprets as the reality of the seals being opened and when they are opened are not correct, at least I have found no evidence of it being correct. 

They teach that the 7 seals have already been opened when the majority of Christians do not teach that. Now again I don’t remember all of the prophecy of the 7 seals. But what I do remember about the WMSCOG teaching is that the 5th seal is about the reformers and the 6th seal was regarded as World War Two. Let me know if I'm wrong about that in the comments or it has changed.

Now let's compare what we know about the teaching to scripture.

Revelation chapter 6 verses 12-14

I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Here WMSCOG teaches that the fulfillment of this verse is World War Two. Meaning that Christ must appear after 1945.

Then the angel from the East comes. In short, they teach that the angel from the East is Ahnsahnghong and his mission is to restore the truth, namely the Passover.

Revelation chapter 7 verses 1-3 

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.”

The WMSCOG says that the words “After this” indicate “After World War Two”. Which would mean Ahnsahnghong had to come after World War Two in 1948. However 6 seals have already been open by the time the angel from the East appears. After World War Two the angel from the East came, then there are the 144,000 and the great multitude. Let's continue reading. 

Revelation chapter 7 verses 4-14

“Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,

from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,

from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

from the tribe of Asher 12,000,

from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,

from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,

from the tribe of Levi 12,000,

from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,

from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,

from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,

who sits on the throne,

and to the Lamb.”

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:

“Amen!

Praise and glory

and wisdom and thanks and honor

and power and strength

be to our God for ever and ever.

Amen!”

Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”

I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

One discrepancy I want to point out is that Revelation 7 verses 9-14 tells us that the great multitude is dressed in white robes and that they washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb. Now I was taught that these people dressed in white robes are those who have kept the Passover. But these people first appear when the Lamb opens the 5th seal in Revelation 6 verse 9-11 but they are given more detail in Revelation chapter 7. The Bible tells us that they are those who have come out of the great tribulation in Revelation 6. But I thought we needed Passover to overcome the great tribulation? But according to the timeline the tribulation happens before the angel from the East comes.

So my question to WMSCOG would be if Revelation 6 verses 9-11 are the reformers as Ahnsahnghong taught and as they teach it, then how could they have their robe washed in the blood of the Lamb aka keeping Passover if the angel from the East hasn't come yet to restore it? Even according to Ahnsahnghong the reformers could not restore the truth of life. So how is this possible? 

Another thing I would like to point out is if the people in white robes in Revelation 6 are the great multitude in Revelation 7 then it means that they died before the angel from the East comes, since the bible says they are those who came out of the great tribulation, which would imply only the 144,000 receive the seal from the angel from the east. Which would be a big problem because according to WMSCOG the great multitude also receive the seal of God or Passover. But if the great multitude is already deceased before the angel from the east comes then how could they receive the seal of God AKA the Passover? It doesn't make sense.

To finish this up. They teach the 6th seal is World War Two then the angel from the East who is Christ comes in secret in the flesh. Which is interpreted as the truth being restored after 1945 via truth books, church establishment, interpretations etc.. Then why doesn't the angel from the East open any of the seals? I have found no indication in the scriptures that the angel unseals anything. In fact he only seals, hence he seals the 144,000 which is the exact opposite. 

Also please consider the following order of events, the angel from the East comes and seals the 144,000 and then there's the great multitude who are before the throne in heaven to serve God and God wipes every tear from their eyes, then the 7th seal is opened in Revelation 8:1 and there was silence in heaven for half an hour. Then what does the angel from the east unseal? After the angel appears all that's left is silence? Doesn't make sense.

Also if the angel from the East is in fact also the same Lamb who is opening the seals then why is the Lamb still in the center of the throne in Heaven according to Revelation 7 verse 17 and not on earth?

Some may say that these chapters are not chronological. However I find no evidence indicating they are not chronological. We see in Revelation 5 the scroll with seven seals that only the Lamb or Root of David can open. Then Revelation 6 the Lamb begins opening the seal. The Bible teaches the 6th seal directly corresponds to Revelation 7, hence the words “after this”. The Lamb never moved from the center of the throne. Then Revelation 8 gives us the 7th seal which would imply Revelation 5, 6, 7 and 8 are chronological.

My conclusion. The Root of David indeed does open the scroll sealed with seven seals. But Scripture does not seem to indicate a restoration taking place of any kind or about a Christ coming in secret to write books or start a church. The chronology of the bible doesn't fit nor does the events themselves in the bible fit into the WMSCOG teaching of the seals being opened as some sort of secret restoration. 

Also another thing I would like to add. If the root of David is Ahnsahnghong and the prophecy was about him restoring the lost truth and revealing all the secrets of the bible, then I would really like to know the real reason why Ahnsahnghong's books have been severely altered and even 3 entire chapters have been omitted from the Green Book completely. Not to mention he has written more books that members do not have access to and I would say they don't even know exist. It seems like WMSCOG doesn't even fully believe their own prophecy.

You claim you are the truth, the restored Gospel, the children of promise. But so does every reformation cult in existence. Please seriously ask yourself what makes you different? What evidence do you really have that is substantial to that claim? How can you fight for something that has no basis in scriptures? Isn’t that what all the other cults do? Do you think the LDS restoration is valid? What about Shincheonji? The Moonies? SDA? JW’s? The list goes on and on. What is so different about the WMSCOG that makes them the sole truth and there is no other? Look at the evidence and make your own conclusion.
